Electrical Troubles, Day 2

Our electrical repairman had to reschedule for tomorrow, so I decided to do some investigating of my own in the meantime. Apparently, the reason that power is only going out and then spontaneously coming back in half of the house is because half is wired to an updated breaker box and the other half is on an old fuse system! I hope we'll be able to do a simple repair, I can only imagine the cost if we have to get all of our wiring transferred to the newer box!!

Until tomorrow, all I can do is wait it out and cross my fingers that it won't be a large repair. At least the power stays on for an hour or so at a time. Not enough time to get any real work done, but enough time to at least check email or pop something in the microwave. Sadly, even the microwave is one of our "brown-out" appliances right now. (Along with the fridge, tv, oven... all the good ones!) This is turning into quite the interesting weekend.

I know I'm not the only one that has experienced a rough spot due to something on the fritz. What is the worst home-repair nightmare you've had?

  1. Sorry to hear about your electrical troubles. I have no experience with any electrical issues, the only thing we've had to do is deal with a blown fuse, but beyond that, I would be helpless.
good luck getting everything straightened out inexpensively!

  3. Hope your electrical issues are fixed soon & not for an arm & a leg.

We have to take our car in for inspection & a new tire, we're keeping our fingers crossed that it won't be too costly either. Ick!
