Like a Chef - Homemade Guacamole & Chips

Have you ever been sitting around watching a show where the person being interviewed is a chef? They almost always mention how they have some fancy snack they like to "whip up" when guests come over. In the average world however (for those of us who don't have our own tv show or cookware line), we don't exactly have on hand the ingredients needed to make chicken liver paté or bacon-wrapped apricots. (And those don't exactly sound appetizing to the average person either!)

But don't worry, there are some recipes out there for us regular people that will still leave our friends in awe of our kitchen skills without us having to spend a ton of time or money.

One of my favorite recipes that makes me feel "like a chef" is homemade guacamole and homemade tortilla chips. It's so easy to do that I almost feel guilty when people compliment me on it. If you are doing this to feed more than four or five people, I would suggest making a double or triple batch since you will run out very quickly. When I make these they are usually gone in five minutes - that's a sign of a good recipe!

What you need:

6 medium (ripe) avocados
1 yellow onion
1 bunch cilantro
1 can diced tomatoes
1 jalepeno
1-16oz package corn tortillas
garlic powder
olive oil
