Ready to start gardening? Check out this nifty vertical planter!

My garden didn't work out this year quite like I thought it would. Between my trip to Indiana (for what was supposed to be a few weeks and ended up being almost the whole summer) and my kiddos running me ragged, a garden this year was a little out of the question. When I saw this planter I really wished I would have thought to bring something like this along with me to my mom's house... not so much because it would take the place of my home garden, but because it would have been absolutely perfect for me to keep a few much-wanted plants in my care to take back home with me at the end of the summer. Luckily, I was still able to have some fresh, homegrown tomatoes (one of my favorite things) at my mom's house, so I wasn't completely without this year! Next year, I'm going to be on top of it. (Hopefully!)

Does this look like a product you'd be interested in? Check out A Lucky Ladybug's review below and see if the Vertical Garden System is for you!

This giveaway has ended, so make sure you click on our Giveaways tab at the top of the page for a list of some of the best and latest contests from around the 'net! Got a giveaway you'd like to feature on our page? You can link it up there! Good luck!

My Garden Post created by Llona Innovations has been a small family owned and operated company since 2004.  Feeling sad when gardening season ended during their trials, they wanted to create something which work just as well indoors.  My Garden Post is "A Vertical Growing System for Herbs, Vegetables, Flowers, Fruit and Tropical Plants for urban gardeners with limited space."  Included with each growing system is 5 uniquely designed planters and mounting brackets, post and base stand with casters.  There are even drain hole plugs for indoor use and you can choose between two color planters - green or terracotta.

"Make Our Own Network" solely organized this event and I received no compensation for this publication. My opinions are 100% my own and may differ from your own or even those stated in this post. MasterofMom.com is not responsible for sponsor prize shipment.

Back-to-School Tips

Getting your family prepared to head back to school, can be difficult especially after a long, fun-filled summer. Here are a few of our favorite Back to School Tips to help you along the way.

1. Back-to-School Supplies Checklist - Backpack? Check. Pencils? Check. Safety scissors? Not Yet. Use the same checklist each time you head out to grab supplies, to keep track of what you have already purchased and the things you still need to. These are also handy if you have more than one child. Simply print 2, 3, 4 list and add their name to the top.

2. Buying new clothes each school year can be incredibly difficult, especially when you have more than one child to dress, or picky clothes-wearers. You can help to combat some of this by altering clothing yourself at home. Cut the bottoms off of shirts with stains on them and sew them onto the hemline of other shirts to create a long and layered look. Stretch a piece of elastic and sew it at the empire-waist-line mark to create a "fit" look on a shirt that is too baggy. You can easily make-over an entire wardrobe by making a few simple changes to each piece.

3. Put a special folder in each child's backpack for all the papers that they would usually stuff in their locker. These are the papers that sometimes don't make it home from school because they don't have a "space" but are also the ones that moms usually need to see the most - like information on parking, new rates for school lunches, rules about hats, class photos day, and parent-teacher meetings.

4. Make lunches at home with your kids each night before bed. This will let them make a few choices, spend time with mom or dad, and teach them about the food pyramid. Good health (just like charity and good manners) starts at home. You'll save a few bucks and your fridge will stay leftover-free!

Got Twins? Maybe you need this pillow...

new2013001047Whew. If there is one thing in life I've been glad of, it's that so far, my kids have been singles. I have a special sort of fear when it comes to the idea of having twins (or more), and I have a great respect for any mother that is able to do two or more babies at the same time. For those of you that are in this particular predicament, my hat is off to you. I've taken care of several babies all at once before... but I got to give them back at the end of my daycare shift!

526783_456150271120257_1519938684_nI thought that this TwinZ Pillow looked really cool when I saw it. It reminds me a lot of the nursing pillows I used for my two kids, except it is quite obvious that it was made for two babies instead of one! This seems like one of those products that you can't fully appreciate unless you're caring for two babies at once, which is why it's no surprise that the woman who came up with the idea is a mother of twins herself! And who can blame her? If I'd had twins I probably would have sewn two boppy pillows together, haha, but it wouldn't have looked quite right or been nearly as comfortable as this item appears to be.

My fellow blogger Army Wife & Mommy got to review this item and had great things to say about it, so I wanted to share it on my site. You can check out her review here!

Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post, and as always, my opinions were purely my own.

This is quite a month for me...

Alright, well as some of you may have noticed, I haven't been on top of everything to the last detail like I generally am. I've not posted anything spectacular and I haven't been able to do coffee-themed posts while I wanted to during the course of my I Love Coffee giveaway.

I just want to let you all know that I'm not slacking off, and I do actually feel quite bad about it! But life and kids have to come first, and I have my hands full helping out with seven of my younger brothers and sisters. Prayers please for my parents as they go to Cleveland Clinic this month to deal with some serious health issues, and prayers for me as well since I am suddenly surrounded by nine kids instead of two - all of them wanting different things at different times! When you add in the laundry and dishes and housekeeping (don't forget weeding the garden!) that comes with this gig, I'm sure you'll understand why I'm feeling unusually frazzled!

I expect that by the time I find a rhythm to this madness, it will be just about time for me to leave, but at least I'm staying in practice. If anyone has advice to give on how to deal with a whole troop of kids at once, I'd love to hear it. Perhaps I could experiment with it and write my blog posts on that!

Thank you to everyone who understands - have a great week!

Where's the Sun? (Expired)

Where's the Sun? I'll tell you where the sun is, it's up in the sky, making me sweat buckets this week as I spend some time with family who (unfortunately) doesn't have air conditioning. The heat is the same across all of the States right now from what I can see on the Weather Channel, but just because we can feel the sun doesn't mean we have to see it! Grab a pair of these Maui Jim sunglasses and you can be on your way to looking cool as a cucumber, even if you feel more like roasted squash! You can check out the product review from A Lucky Ladybug at the link below!

This giveaway may be over, but you can still check out some of the great contests over on our Giveaways tab at the top of this page! Your next win could be just a click away!

Check out these awesome tees from CIRCUS212 (Expired)

There are few things I love so much about my wardrobe as having a brand new t-shirt. I'm a t-shirt kind of girl most days, so when I find one that tickles my funny-bone, or is incredibly "me", I grab it. As a matter of fact, when a fellow blogger got to review their product line, the first thing I did was browse their selection! Because they are mainly a kid's line, and have only just recently begun to extend their collection to "adult" wear, I wasn't able to find much in my size - but I definitely fell in love with the WannaB shirts, and this just might be where I get my little guy his next outfit! So read up on Java John Z's CIRCUS 212 review and then check out their site for yourself!

This giveaway below has ended, but make sure to check out the Giveaways tab at the top of this page for a great list of currently running contests from around the internet!

Enter for your chance to win a $50 gift code to Circus212.com. Ends 7/13.

This event was hosted by Java John Z's and the winner received a $50 gift card to CIRCUS 212.

CIRCUS 212 offers whimsical clothing for children and dads alike. In short, the company provides clothing with a bit of an artistic touch, focused around the circus of New York City, area code 212, hence the company name.

Glow in the Dark t-shirt

CIRCUS212 started out offering children's clothing, where each item might be felted or glittered. Instead of your typical t-shirt, for instance, the shirt above comes with glow-in-the-dark embroidery.

WannaB a Police Officer
Another line of their children's clothing is their WannaB shirts. This is where their whimsical-ness comes out. The uniforms of people performing everyday occupations are shown on the shirt front, strategically positioned so your child's head appears to top off the uniform.

Scrub Scoop

After the success of their children's clothing, dad can now enjoy their graphic tees, too. Several of their shirts have items strategically placed, but never really there, like the stethoscope in the shirt pictured above.
