Cafe Viva Review: A probiotic supplement that gives me a boost!

Cafe Viva Mug & Sample PackRecently I was asked to review a probiotics supplement that came in the form of coffee. Since I love coffee I accepted the assignment, and I'm happy to report that this is one of the better supplements I've seen in a while!

If you've skipped around on my blog before, you know I love organics and that I'm all-for the companies that take the time & effort of putting a non-GMO label on their products. In a world where money talks, it is so important to me to see that my food suppliers are looking out for me & my family first, and their pocketbooks second!

I was sent a trial pack of the Cafe Viva supplements along with a cute little mug, and I was thrilled to read that not only was the product non-GMO, but also low-lactose, and gluten-free, with no preservatives, fillers, binders, or artificial ingredients. And even though it comes pre-sweetened, it's only 80 calories!

To top it off, this is definitely one of the better probiotic supplements on the market. It boasts around 4 billion CFU's in one packet - that means Colony-Forming Units for those just learning about probiotics. (If you're not sure what probiotics are, click here for the rundown.) In addition to that, it has 21 amino acids and 6 vitamins & minerals. Not bad for a cup of coffee.

Don't throw out your usual coffee though, these packets are meant to be a supplement to the way you already eat and drink, not a full replacement. Because we want the probiotics to work properly, the coffee can't be too hot or it will kill all the friendly bacteria that are the reason behind the great health benefits.

While I did like the coffee on its own (even without it being steaming hot!) I've never been one to sit around and wait for someone else to come up with all the good recipes - so I headed to the kitchen. Of course I tried it in the obvious ways: iced coffee, coffee smoothie, café con leche... and then I tried it in a few not-so-conventional ways that turned out too delicious not to share.
